Birds & Plants

Lake Cunningham Park is home to a wide variety of resident and migratory birds, as well as a growing number of native plants. Four times a year, Vicki Silvas-Young leads a Bird and Plant Identification Walk at Lake Cunningham Park. The chosen date is on or close to the start of each season: First Day of Spring/Summer/Fall/Winter. These walks are free and open to the public. (There is a parking fee per vehicle.)

The walk starts in the Marina Parking Lot and follows the Inner Lake Path to the Native Garden and back.  We look at the birds and plants we encounter along the way, and Vicki tells us about their natural history and helps us learn the key identifying characteristics of each.

Below find the handouts for each of our walks. Download them to your smartphone or print them off for easy reference.
